The Fierce Ladies on the Lines
A few weekends ago in Boven some very special ladies took to the skies in the first female-only highlining weekend in Boven. I was a very special time for synergy between the women of the climbing community.
Friends and Allies loves putting a friendly face behind the desk. Who better to put a smile on your dial than our favourite Tjom – Trystan.
My obsession with climbing and the climbing community started in 2019 when, as a lot of us do, I got introduced to indoor climbing by a friend. I got scared half way up my first attempt on a top rope, came down and told myself I had to send it on my second try. Then with the encouragement of some friendly strangers, I did just that. I’ve been in love with the sport ever since.
Climbing came to me at a time when I had been physically inactive for a few years. It was something exciting, complex and physically challenging that I could sink my teeth into, and quickly became a huge motivator for me to think about my health again.
I’ve been going to friends and Allies for the last two years and it is one of my favourite places. I have enjoyed getting stronger and learning about my own abilities and those of others. The sense of community and psych is a huge part of why I became involved and am so happy to be a part of the Friends and Allies crew.
I am so grateful that I will get to play a part in this beautiful sport, community and lifestyle that we call climbing.
