I’m an artist, I love to make and get involved in whatever creative work I can. I was first drawn to FA after discovering climbing while studying at WITS. Some friends and I heard about the gym opening and began to go regularly. Climbing at FA really cemented my love for both the sport and the community it introduced me to.

I met some of my best friends through the gym and discovered that the playful nature that the space fosters holds a beautiful creative energy. From the agile, playful nature of climbing to the experimentation always possible with the flow toys in the gym, discovering contact improv classes, dancing at beats by bae and having fat chats with the homies late into the evening, FA has always been engaging and really feels like a place of healing and curiosity.

It’s receptive to its inhabitant’s needs and has always felt like more than a business for the people that come to inhabit it. I applied to work here for these reasons, it’s a community space that’s experimental and one I’d like to be a part of developing. As a staff member I’d love to activate the space with some visual art classes, exhibitions, drawing games etc to expand the kinds of play the gym offers and to continue to maintain the space’s welcoming and imaginative energy.
